Practical Guides
This section is three things: advice I was given, lessons I've learnt the hard way, and answers to the questions my friends keep asking me.
I got lucky — every dumb question, every gear decision, every "is this normal?" moment, I had someone to ask. Not everyone has that. And without it, cycling can feel overwhelming. The gear, the lingo, the unspoken rules — it's a lot.
These guides are my way of paying it forward. If your mates keep asking you the same cycling questions, send them here instead.
Find Your Level
No gatekeeping here. If you're unsure, start with Beginner — that's literally what it's for.
Beginner
Two wheels, zero idea where to start? Perfect — you're in the right place. From picking your first bike to riding with mates without getting dropped.
Intermediate
You want to take on high mountain passes, plan multiday trips, or join group rides. The riding is bigger, longer, and more social.
Advanced
You've done the passes, the big trips, and the group rides. Now you're fine-tuning — optimising performance, dialling in nutrition, and chasing marginal gains.
